Brussels cherishes talent

Brusselaars kunnen hun talenten maximaal ontwikkelen. De VGC ondersteunt scholen en stimuleert levenslang en levensbreed leren. We focussen op kwaliteit en op gelijke kansen voor iedereen. Wilt u weten hoe onze acties tot stand komen? Hoe beleidskeuzes vertaald worden naar concrete doelstellingen en acties? Artists in class

Artist Seppe Baeyens and the Cardijnschool were the first to submit a proposal involving contemporary dance. The participative dance project works with groups of ten pupils from various classes at the Cardijnschool. The dance workshops help pupils increase their self-confidence, civic sense and social-emotional skills, thus strengthening their life skills.

We carry on building schools

Dutch-speaking education in Brussels continues to grow. At the start of October 2021 we had over 50,000 pupils. That represents an increase of 1.7% compared with the previous school year.

The non-profit association NAKAMA is a collective of and for children and young people in Brussels. Their actions give young people a voice and a place in society, with respect for everyone’s identity. Nakama strives to enable children and young people to realise their dreams.

The coronavirus crisis required additional flexibility and resilience on the part of day care workers. For this reason, Opgroeien in Brussel (OIB, Growing up in Brussels) put together a toolbox to enhance the satisfaction of day care staff and managers at work.

Materials for adult education centres and work-study programmes

The three Dutch-speaking adult education centres in Brussels (Centrum voor Volwassenenonderwijs - CVO) and Centre for elementary education Ligo Brusselleer together received EUR 138,425 to invest in ICT equipment. Six Dutch-speaking schools received a total of EUR 128,603 to invest in materials for work-study programmes.
