Brussels gives children and adolescents space

Kinderen moeten kunnen bewegen in de stad. Spelen, sporten, samen rondhangen: het is belangrijk voor hun ontwikkeling. Ze hebben recht op hun deel van de openbare ruimte. New day care centres in Elsene opened thanks to research

Elsene/Ixelles has two new Dutch-speaking day care centres: Ernestine and Mandala. Worth noting: both day care centres were set up following cartographic research conducted by Ghent University.

We have seen in the past that day care centres were opened in neighbourhoods where buildings were available, and not necessarily where the need was the greatest, researcher Dr Jochen Devlieghere (UGent) explains.
