The multilingualism of Brussels is unique. Dutch, French, English and the many different languages spoken at home offer many opportunities to children and young people to function multilingually. The various languages can strengthen and support each other.
The Dutch-speaking schools in Brussels, VGC playgroups and initiatives like ‘Brussel vol Taal’ ensure that children and young people are as well prepared as possible to live within this linguistic diversity.
The Brussels Education Centre (Onderwijscentrum Brussel - OCB) launched the website ‘Brussel Vol Taal’ at the beginning of 2021. With this site, the OCB helps schools offer effective Dutch language education in a multilingual environment.
