A large group of Brussels children and young people grow up in an underprivileged or difficult context. A growing number of pupils face the risk of not finishing school or have already dropped out. Extra support is needed.
That is why the VGC seeks to develop an integrated approach between Education and Well-being. With a targeted approach, young people are given support on the school campus itself. This form of support reinforces positive behaviour at school and reduces suspension and drop-out rates.
We wish to revive young people’s motivation for education by increasing their socio-emotional well-being and by supporting schools with a customized care policy. The VGC set aside more than EUR 2,000,000 to implement this pilot project in five schools.
