Young people are city leaders

The non-profit association NAKAMA vzw is a collective of and for children and young people in Brussels. Their actions give young people a voice and a place in society, with respect for everyone’s identity. Nakama strives to enable children and young people to realise their dreams.

The young people and the many volunteers organise and supervise activities. They aim to create a place where young people from Brussels feel at home, can commit themselves to something and grow. Here, young people develop into city leaders who are strongly committed to contributing towards a better Brussels. Cooperation is their driving force. They organise leisure time activities, such as an initiation to drama, a benefit evening for an aid project in Senegal, a hackathon on communication about the coronavirus and so much more.

The non-profit association JES vzw organised a city leadership course with a study day in October 2021 as the closing event. In this way, more organisations can give young volunteers opportunities to commit themselves to something and to grow.

We know from our own experience that it is not always easy to find a spot where you feel at home, where you are among friends and in addition, where you are encouraged to learn from one another. Vrijwilliger Nakama.

We believe in the paths that we have taken ourselves and so we want to offer other children and young people the same opportunities. Vrijwilliger Nakama.
