Strong projects that participate on “building community in shared space” and smart use of space have been able to receive up to 15,000 euros in Bruss-it subsidies for the past four years.
These are just some of the Bruss-it initiatives that made neighbourhoods more dynamic in 2020:
Pavilion-on-tour – Paviljoen Municipal Primary School
Parents, pupils and neighbourhood residents of the Paviljoen primary school in Schaerbeek built a mobile cart together with Dear Pigs and FIX. This multifunctional “cart” serves as an outdoor classroom. Residents and neighbourhood organisations can borrow the cart and use it for their activities.
Things are happening around the Weststation – D'Broej Centre West
The Jeugdwerking Centrum West (West youth activity centre) joins other organisations to head to “Molenwest”, a site in the neighbourhood of the Weststation in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek/Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. They set up a container as a meeting place. It provides space for therapy and sport and recreational activities for both young and old.
Frisbee Golf (Het Huys community centre)
“Frisbee Golf” is golf but using a frisbee: the aim is to get a frisbee into a target with the fewest possible throws. Along with residents from the social housing areas and with young people from Ukkel/Uccle, Het Huys community centre set up fun targets in green spaces in Ukkel/Uccle. These activities help people get to know these places better.
