The VGC Sports Service organised gym sessions during lockdown for people with an intellectual handicap, online Family Fit classes for parents and children (3-12 years), fun Sport and Spot rallies for children from 5 years and up, free mountain bike rides in the Zoniënwoud forest and an Indoor play day 2020.
Multilingualism in school
Helping to improve the Dutch skills of pupils who have a different mother tongue, training multilingual students and supporting teams of teachers. Language and multilingualism is one of the most important topics on which the Brussels Education Centre, or OCB, of the VGC is working.
Coronaproofing the playgroups

The playgroups continued through 2020! Although in small bubbles, with litres of hand sanitizer, lots of face masks and sometimes with a separate entrance for each bubble.
Brussels at its best during the coronavirus crisis
Brussels residents asked for and offered each other help: that was the aim of “Brussels helps” during the first lockdown. Together with Brussels partners, the VGC lent its support to this project.
Services for people in vulnerable situations

The pandemic has affected each of us, but especially Brussels residents living in poverty or with a difficult family situation. Many organisations have been working hard on structural ways to mitigate the social impact of the crisis.
